My Why
I remember sitting at a desk, listening to my colleagues talk about what they did the previous weekend, and mine was not as exciting.
My weekend consisted of me sending and responding to emails about my son’s lack of access to services at school; I had received several calls from friends who had questions about what the regional center was saying (and not saying); someone from church asked if I could take a three-way call with their cousin in Southern California because their child’s service coordinator had given them information that they wanted to make sure was accurate.
As I was explaining my weekend, I realized then that I have a passion for making sure EVERYONE in the community gets the same accurate and relevant information when it comes to disabled services and supports that are available. How else can we make an informed decision?
I would love to take credit for the creation of this idea, but I cannot. Jesus Christ, who is my Savior, and the authority over my life (and business), gave it to me.
He showed me where the need was, and He gave me the vision to do something about it. He put me in many places and at more than a few tables where decisions were being made for our community. He brought many people in the community to me to ask questions, get advice from, and give advice to. He built a book of wisdom in me through the many hardships of life, including adversities from my own disobedience.
And He gifted me with a wonderfully made autistic child and helped me understand that what the world sees as a “developmental disability,” God sees as an opportunity for His glory to be shown.
I could give you a list of all my degrees, and all my accolades, and all my previous experience, and on and on. But those things are not the ultimate reason for what got me to where I am now.
Jesus Christ is my HOW.
As a single mother raising a neuro-divergent child, I’ve found Him to be a comfort, a provider, a place of rest, and a source of constant, unconditional love for me even though I am not perfect.
He reminds me to get up, dust myself off, repent and reflect on what I learned, gives me the courage to hold my head up in the storms of life, and motivates me to KEEP GOING.
He can be those same things to you. You only need to ask.
